Mostly small pens were offere<L including some good quality fats, and the best price obtained was 25/6 for a gmall lot of early spring lambs. 9’he be.ef yarding was of indifferent, quality and values generally were below recent quotations, while pork showed an easing tendency. Store pigs were slow-selling but there was a firm inquiry for the purebred boars offered by the two auctioneering firms in conjunction on behalf of the Levin Dairy Company, and the pick of the Catiadian-Berksliires realised s}gns. With the approach of the new dairy' season interest is increasing in the dairy cattle section and good dairy types met with a read.v sale at yesterday’s market. A'braham and Williams offered medium yardiugs and sales were completed at the following prices:—
Sheep: j'at hoggets, 20/8 to 25/6: fat S.D. ewes, 23/-. Bigs: Light porkers. 23/- to 30/-; medium, 33/- to 37/6: heavy, 44/- to 49/-: bacouers, £2/10/- to £2/14/-: ehoppers, £2 to £2/10/-; weaners. 5/- to 7/-: slips. 9/6 to 15/(1: stores. 9’he New Zealand Loan and .Mercnntile Agency presented good yardings in all classes of stock. Pork prices and those for fat cattle were easier, sheep remained on a par with late rates, and in the dairy cattle section good quality stock met with good demand. Realisations were as follows :—
