Verrall—Lenihan
The wedding took place at the Sacred Heart Church, Petone, of Marie Zita, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lenihan, Carterton, to John Frederick, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Verrail, Petone. The Rev. Father O’Donnell performed the ceremony and also celebrated nuptial Maes. Mrs. J. V. Ryan was at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore an ensemble of pow-der-blue silk with hat and shoes to match and carried a bouquet of blue and white flowers and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Lily Lenihan, a sister of the bride, wore a lemon silk costume with satin blouse of royal blue in waistcoat effect and also carried a bouquet of autumntinted flowers. Mr. E. Varrall was best man. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a blue and white horseshoe by Eileen Brislee. The reception was held in the parish hall, where the guests were received by Mrs. J. Lenihan, who wore an ensemble of navy blue with hat and shoes to match, and wore a spray of red roses. She was assisted bv the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a frock of london tan with nigger brown hat. shoes and accessories, and a spray of autumn-tinted flowers. When Mrs. J. F. Verrail left she wore a handknitted rust suit and fur coat for the wedding tour. Jones —Wale A wedding solemnised recently at the Gospel Hall, Lower Hutt, by Mr. P. Wilson, was that of Venus Mary. third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Wale, and Philip Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Jones. The bride, who entered the ehurch with her father, wore a gown of white embossed satin cut on slim-fitting lines with a high cowl neckline and buttons from the neck to the waist at the back. The slim-fitting skirt fell in a long scalloped train finished with knots of pleated satin ribbon. The embroidered veil, which was lent by the bride’s sister-in-law, was worn over the face during the ceremony and formed a halo trimmed with orange blossom. She carried a sheath of lapageria, carnations, roses, cactus dahlias, and maidenhair fern. Attending her were Miss Norma Jones, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Alice Pacey, a flower-girl, Esme Trail, niece of the bride, and a page-boy, James Fitzmaurice, nephew of the bridegroom. 'The bridesmaids wore frocks of blue pin-spot net over heavy taffetas made with full skirts, bolero coats and peter pan collars, the boleros and collars being finished with (lowers in three shades of blue. They wore haloes of pleated net trimmed with the same flowers, and carried bouquets ot apricot, carnations, dahlias and autumn leaves and maidenhair tern. The flowergirl wore a frock of white pin-spotted net
with puff sleeves, the frilled skirt being trimmed with velvet forget-me-nots. She wore a bandeau of forget-me-nots and carried a posy of carnations, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Mr. L. Roberts was best man and Mr. AV. Rillstone groomsman. About a hundred guests were afterward entertained in a marquee in the grounds of the home of the bride’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Wale received the guests, the latter wearing a frock of navyblue American cloth with matching hat. and a shoulder spray to tone. Mrs. Jones, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a frock of brown floral heavy crepe de chine and toning hat and shoulder spray. Mrs. P. T. Jones travelled in a bottle-green frock and fur-trimmed coat with a peach-bloom hat and accessories of the same shade.
