WRESTLING TO-NIGHT
Keen interest is being displayed in the wrestling contest at the Wellington Town Hall to-night between “Lofty” Blomfield, who will be making his first appearance of the season, and Pat McKay, one of the visiting Americans, who will be seen in his Wellington debut. Added to the prospect of seeing a rousing encounter between two big and aggressive wrestlers will be the opportunity of welcoming the New Zealand champion, who recently returned from a very successful tour of the United States and Canada. Blomfield, by his performances overseas, brought credit both to himself and to his country, and his characteristic performances, which Wellington patrons have enjoyed so much in the past, earned him a big following wherever he went.
FRALEY BEATS TONTI
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, April 25. Two overseas wrestlers, the Canadian Pat Fraley, and the American J,oe Tonti, appeared for the first time in Auckland on Saturday night and contested a bout of eight eight-minute rounds. Fraley won by a single fall, this being gained in the fourth round by means of his spectacular specialty—a flying toehold. The speed with which this was applied amazed the fairly large crowd of onlooker's. Tonti bounced oft the ropes in an endeavour to lower his opponent with a flying tackle. Fraley, however, side-stepped with remarkable speed and agility, at the same time throwing forward his feet, with which he tripped Tonti and then wrapped the latter’s legs up quickly to force his submission.
