National Union "Pleasure Cruise" A reminder is given to members of the National Union and their friends that the “Pleasure Cruise” will take place at the National Club, Featherston Street, to-night. The services of a good orchestra have been secured, and there will be numerous novelties. The evening is expected to be a particularly successful one. Women's Service Guild The monthly meeting of the Women’s Service Guild Was held recently, Mrs. P. Love presiding. Much general business was disposed of, and after a lengthy discussion on the hospital scheme for greater Wellington, the members present endorsed the action of the guild’s representative in this matter. The need for further conveniences for women and children in the suburbs was recognised and the secretary was instructed to write to the reserves committee of the city council concerning this.
A very distinctive .ensemble of light weight mulberry woollen has a frock with a quilted scroll effect up the front of the bodice and round the pockets, and a brown suede belt. The long coat, cleverly tuck-fitted in the back, has no collar, but lovely revers of sable dyed fox. Another ensemble, in a perfect tone of clover, has a simple frock trimmed with stitching, and a fold of velvet in the same tone at the high neckline. The back of the fingertip coat is interesting, with many narrow panels—a splendidly slimming effect, and the small collar and revers are of brown lamb. Among the new hats are —a rust felt, the brim rolled at the back and dipping in front, and the band and tailored bow of forest green felt; a Cossack hat of navy blue felt, swathed with dull petunia corded silk; a brown pierrot hat with the point of the crown tucked in and a velvet bow; a very smart cocktail cap with a pinchedin crown, circled with sequins and a back veil lace edged, dotted with sequins.—Agnes Samson, Lambton Quay. —Advt.
