Actions Against Auckland Newspapers By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, March 25. A verdict for plaintiff for £3OO damages against New Zealand Newspapers Ltd., proprietors of the “Auckland Star,” and for £2OO against Wilson and Horton Ltd., proprietors of the “New Zealand Herald,” was returned by the jury in related Supreme Court actions brought by James William Taylor, Auckland, insurance adjuster, who claimed £5OOO damages from each defendant for alleged libels contained in reports of a Supreme Court action heard on November 4 and 5, 1937. After the verdict counsel for both defendants were granted 14 days in which to move for a new trial. The hearing of the case occupied five days.
