RAROTONGAN CHIEF

Visit To New Zealand By Telegraph'—Press Association. Auckland, March 21. A passenger in the Matua,. which arrived from the Islands to-day, was Makeanui Tinirau, irriki, paramount chief, or king, of the island of Rarotonga. He is on a health trip, and will probably spend several months in Auckland. He is a grand-nephew of the late Queen Makear, who ceded the island to Britain. Another passenger was Mr. R. Hyne, formerly Chief Justice of Tonga, who has been appointed Judicial Commissioner of the Solomon Islands.
