Outside A Handicap HISTORY OF THOMPSON HANDICAP WINNERS (By The Watcher.) It has always been recognised that the draw for positions in the Thompson Handicap is an important factor and the influence exerted by a marble inside double figures may be illustrated forcibly by the results in the past two decades. The following table gives the number of runners, and the post position of the winner, since 1919—
It will thus be seen that only four winners in these years have succeeded from double-figure positions. The 1921 winner was Rouen, and in 1922 Printemps. The horse that drew 16 and holds the record in this respect is Reremoana in his second year, and the 1934 winner was Golden Hair, \ 1
