PACIFIC DEFENCE

United States Naval Bases (Received March. 13, 9.30 p.m.) San Diego, March 12. A part of the Navy’s submarine force has been ordered to Alaskan waters to augment the proposed fleet air base at Sitka, the northern tip of the Navy's Pacific defence triangle. The tender Holland is accompanying the submarines. It. is understood that the Navy is.also preparing to establish bases at the Kodiak irnd Amalnak Islands in the Aleutians, almost within sight of Asia.
