CRIPPLED CHILDREN
Wellington Society’s Work The Wellington Crippled Children Society is to purchase special textbooks dealing with the education of disabled children and these are to be lent to teachers and other persons connected with the education of cripples. This decision was arrived at by the monthly meeting of the society, presided over by Mrs. Knox Gilmer. An amount of £llO is to be allocated by a special vocational training sub-coui-mitee for cases selected and approved, and this amount will be used specifically for educational and vocational training purposes. It was reported that Mr. F. Shipman. manager for personality concerts, has agreed to donate the proceeds of four Wellington concerts to the funds of the society. Mr. Shipman was thanked for his offer. The students' asr-ociation. Victoria College, has undertal \i to organise a «.'flection for the suen.y >n connection with their capping day procession. Tlie welfare officer's report disclosed that since the last meeting 110 eases bad received attention and 90 cases had been attended at the clinic. The number of eases now registered with the society is During the month many grants were made for surgical boots, repairs to artificial limbs, travelling expenses, special education and other necessary requirements. A special donation was approved Jor tlie purchase of a cupooard at the Wellington Hospital school tor the custody of materials given by the society. An amount of £lO/18/6 was also given for the purchase of new and modern educational material specially adapted for the use of crippled children.
