“NAUTICAL WEEK”

Missions To Seamen “Nautical Week,” a week which will provide a wide variety of entertainment, will commence to-day with a garden party and terminate on March 10 with a grand ball. Thig week has been arranged by the Wellington branch of the Missions to Seamen, and its primary object is to bring before the publie the special needs of seamen and the work which is being carried out by the mission. To-day a garden party and fete will be held at Mr. E. G. Sundgren’s property, “Ferndale,” Karori, when the Hutt Civic Band will be in attendance. The Nautical Fair itself, with its wide range of attractions, will open on Monday at the Mission Hail. The fair will include a series of ship games and competitions, and will be continued each evening until Thursday. “The Middle Watch,” the well-known comedy by lan Hay and Stephen KingHall, will be performed by members of the Repertory Theatre Society and Toe II at the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on Tuesday night. Only one performance will be given. Wednesday Is “show-boat night” and the Murital will make a moonlight excursion of the harbour with Father Neptune aboard. A nautical ballet and cabaret turns have been arranged, and good dance music will be provided. A pyrotechnic display is also ou the programme, and, given a fine night, should be a great attraction.

The fair will conclude on Thursday night, when a “Nautical Ball” will be held at the St. Francis Hall, and the prizes will be distributed.
