ATTEMPTED THEFT
Man Pleads Guilty At
Blenheim

As a sequel to an attempted burglary during the week-end, Noel Eadley Gibson, aged 28, married, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Courtyto-day to charges of breaking and -entering two premises in Market Street north The premises concerned were those of the Blenheim brtmeh of Scoullar and Co., Ltd', and next door, the bookselling establishment of Mr. George Perry. According to the police evidence, accused first attempted theft from the safe in the Scoullar premises, but found he could not open it and then essayed an entry of the next door premises. He wag disturbed and nothing was stolen from either place. Accused left behind traces of blood through breaking) a window with his hand and the police quickly traced him because of his visit to a chemist to receive treatment. When pleading in court, accused attributed his action to a drinking orgy as the result of depression through financial difficulties? and confessed that he was much ashamed of his lapse.
He was reminded for sentence, bail A)f self £lOO and a security of £lOO being allowed.
