Ministerial. The Hon. W. Nash, Minister of Finance, will leave Wellington to-day for Napier. On Monday he will discuss the question of the repayment of earthquake loans incurred by Hawke’s Bay local bodies with the local authorities concerned. From Hawke’s Bay the Minister will proceed to the Waikato. On February 7, Mr. Nash will meet a gathering of dairy-farmers at Hamilton, and the following day lie is to attend a similar meeting at Morrinsville. The Minister expects to return to Wellington on February 9. The Hon. F. Jones, Postmaster-Gen-eral, left Wellington for the north by the Limited express last night. Dr. F. Hodgkiss, Dunedin, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the steamer express. Mr. R. Hudson, Dunedin, returned south last night by the steamer express. Mr. J. Kilkenny. Mayor of Westport, returned south last night by the steamer express. Colonel the Hon. G. J. Smith, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the steamer express. Dr. H. G. Denham, Professor of Chemistry at Canterbury University College, returned south last night by the steamer express. Mr. M. Silverstone, Dunedin, a director of the Reserve Bank, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the steamer express. Wing-Commander J. L. Findlay, Christchurch, accompanied by Mrs. Findlay, arrived at Wellington by the steamer express. Mr. R. Juriss has started his duties on the staff of the Magistrates’ Court at Petone and Lower Hutt in sucession ot the late Mr. V. G. Parkin. Mr. D. Firth Reid, manager of the Bank of New Zealand in London, -will arrive at Wellington by the Akaroa on Monday. The Rev. W. H. S. Hine, Christchurch, who has been spending a month’s holiday in Auckland, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Limited express. Mr. E. V. Wilkinson, Auckland, arrived at Wellington yesterday to attend an executive meeting of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. Mr. J. I. Goldsmith, chairman of the Soldiers’X Civil Re-establishment League, who has been visiting Auckland, returned to Wellington by air yesterday. Mr. W. Barnett, Manunui School, King Country, left for Sydney by the Awatea, on Wednesday. He has been appointed an exchange teacher from New Zealand in New South Wales schools /luring the present year. Mr. D. J. Cummings, Commissioner of Police, has been elected a member of the Public Service Superannuation Board, as the. representative of the contributors to the fund belonging to the Police Force. Mr. N. Porter, Auckland, left for Sydney by the Awatea on Wednesday. He will represent New Zealand at the bi-annual conference of the Australasian Institute of Secretaries at Hobart. Mr. Noel Newson, the talented Christchurch pianist, who has just concluded an engagement with the national radio stations of Australia, has returned to Wellington. He will leave for Christchurch this evening. Messrs. W. H. Clothier, E. E. Sharp and H. H. Hughes, three influential men in the English electrical world, are visiting .Wellington. Mr. Clothier is to deliver a technical address before the members of the Institute of Electrical Engineers at Electricity House on Monday, and Mr. Sharp wiil broadcast an address on “Old English Customs and Guilds.” Mr. R. Winterbourn, formerly lecturer in education and psychology at Canterbury University College, will return to New Zealand about June. Mr. Winterbourn, who was awarded a Carnegie Fellowship in 1936 for research work abroad, is at present studying vocational psychology, child guidance methods and remedial teaching at the London Institute of Education.
