Training Night Races The Victoria University College Swimming Club conducted a short programme of races during its weekly training night at Thorndon baths last "Wednesday. Though the sharpness of the temperature caused a curtailment of events the fol-lowing-races produced some exciting finishes :— 33 l-3yds. Men’s Handicap Free Style. —First heat: Perry (3see.), 1: Knowles (ssee.), 2; Johnstone (Isec.), 3. Time. 19 3-ssec. Second heat: Hall (2sec.), 1; Oram (4sec.), 2; Murphy (ssee.). 3. Time, 19 l-ssec. Final: Perry, 1: Hal] and Oram (dead-beat), 2. Time, 19 4-> sec. 100yds. Women’s Handicap Breaststroke. —Miss S. Ilefford (scr.), 1 ; Miss J. Stock (Ssec.), 2. Time, 1.42 1-5. 220yds. Men’s Handicap Free Style.— O’Flyiin (2sec.), 1; Ryan (scr.), 2; Ennis (2see.), 3. Ten starters. Time, 3.2 3-5. Men’s Dive.—Ryan, 1 : Hamilton and Oram (equal),'2. Next Wednesday evening the club will hold another racing programme.
