General Firming At Yesterdays Sales
Firm values ruled at the Westfield sale, extra choice ox selling at up to 40/- perr 1001 b. Sheep sold well, making late rates, wethers improving. Calves continued to decline, values dropping by about b/- a head. There was steady competition for the good entry of pigs. , Very small yardings were the rule at Stortford Lodge. Fat catt.e offered were of mixed quality, best heifers firming slight!). a steep were sold at recent rates. Of the store sheep the best price was made for an offering of mixed-aged wethers, 22/10. , , • ~ A good general yarding sold well at Wanganui. Fat lambs orougl . to 24/8, prime ewes to 17/3. Prime Jersey cows brought to fo/12/6. Shorthorns to £7. Heavy porkers realised to 3 */ b - There was a firmer sale for fat lambs at the Addington marker, and fat sheep recovered part of last week’s drop. Store sheep w unaltered and fat cattle, except for the best sorts, were easier store and fat pigs firmed slightly. Fat. cattle were firmer at Burnside, despite a general lack o quality. The store cattle section was slow. The fat sheep o leru were principally medium and light sorts. Best wethers brought to 32/-. Porkers realised to £3//2/-, and baconers to £4/o/-.
