TO COST £6,000,000

New Coaches For London Underground

(British Official Wireless.)

(Received January 19, 5.5 p.m.)

Rugby, January 18. The London Passenger Transport Board has ordered 2050 new coaches for underground trains, costing about £6.000,000. The contracts stipulate that 500 must be delivered this year.

The driving equipment, of the new trains for the first time will be underneath the floor-boards, and the entire train will be available for passengers. The trains will accelerate to the rate of 20 miles an hour in 10 seconds, and, as a result, it will be possible to run far more trains in rush hours. It is stated that the trains will be superior in every respect to any in the world.
