YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Wellington.— The morning was dull and threatening. Light rain fell about 11.30 a.m., but the sun came out in the afternoon. A light southerly wind prevailed. The minimum temperature during Tuesday night was 55.5 deg., the maximum yesterday, 63.5 deg., and at 3.30 p.m. the temperature was 63.5 deg„ and the barometer 30.06 in. Palmerston North.— Fine and sunny, with passing clouds and a light breeze ;■ warm temperatures. Masterton. — Beautifully sunny day, and cooler temperatures. Moderate westerly wind. Wanganui.—Blue sky and bright sunshine, with a moderate southerly breeze. Sea moderate. 4 p.m. the'barometer was steady at 30.14 in. Napier and Hastings.—A continuance of hot summer conditions, with a southeast breeze. Waipukurau.— The day was cooler, the maximum temperature being 87deg., dropping sharply by 7 p.m. to 62deg. New Plymouth.— Clear sky and bright sunshine with a light westerly breeze; barometer falling slowly, being 30in. at 5 p.m. Auckland. — Cloudy but fine with a moderate to fresh south-south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 78deg. Barometric pressure showed a falling tendency, and the reading at 5 p.m. was 30.04 in. Christchurch. — Fine but for the most part overcast. A light south-west wind in the morning changed to north-east in the afternoon; maximum temperature OO.ddeg. The barometer fell to 30.05 in. at 5 p.m. Dunedin. — Intermittent sunshine and a slight south-westerly breeze. The maximum temperature was C7deg., and the barometer fell from 30.20 in. to 30.10 in.
