CHRISTMAS PARTY

The Chartered Engineers Entertain The annual Christmas party given yesterday evening by the chartered engineers of Wellington, was combined with a welcome to Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Hutton, Mr. Hutton having recently been appointed assistant-electrical engineer of Wellington city. A welcome was also extended to Mr. and Mrs. Diitler, visitors from Switzerland. The gathering, which was a very cheerful one, was held at Electricity House, in an upstairs room which was beautifully decorated with bowls of scarlet poppies, blue delphiniums and canterbury bells. The guests were received by Mr. Matthew Cable, general manager of the Tramways Department, and Mrs. Cable, the latter wearing a graceful gown of heavy black silk, embroidered in an appliqued design of red, silver and green. Her rftatchiug black hat was trimmed with purple anemones and green leaves. Mrs. Hutton was wearing a navy ensemble with tartan trimming and a halo hat of navy ribbed cloque, and Mrs. Deitler was in a brown ensemble with a matching hat.

During the party, Air. Cable made a. speech of welcome to the guests of honour. Mr. 11. F. Toogood proposed a toast to Mr. and Mrs. Cable, saying that the Wellington chartered engineers were grateful to him for many things. Just before the party broke up Air. Toogood proposed a toast to the ladies, which was drunk enthusiastically and with musical honours. The committee who assisted 1 Air. and Airs. Cable with this very successful party were Air. and Mrs. H. F. Toogood’ Air. and Mrs. J. G. Lancaster and Air. W. E. Puddy. Among those present were Air. and Aire. Cable, Air. and Airs.
