WEDDING

Collins —Duffy St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Palmerston North, was the scene of a pretty morning wedding recently, when Shirley Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Duffy, Waverley, was married to Thomas Clarence, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Collins, Feilding. The Rev. Father Hcrlihy performed the ceremony, and Air. A. Penney was at the organ, s Escorted by her father, the bride entered the church wearing a model frock of blue cloque with a smart navy hat and accessories to tone and a shoulder spray of talisman roses. She was attended by her sister, Miss M. Duffy. Air. Keith Haybittie. Feilding, was best man. Mrs. Duffy and Mrs. Collins entertained about 50 guests at a buffet morning tea at the New Commercial Hotel. The bride’s mother wore a navy costume with hat to match and a shoulder spray of scarlet carnations. The bridegroom’s mother was in a tunic frock in green and brown tunings and wore a shoulder spray of autumn-tint-ed flowers. Air. and Airs. T. C. Collins left later by car for the south, Hie bride travelling in a navy ensemble. Their future home will be in Fielding. Te Aro School Social The final of a series of socials organised during the past eight months by the parents’ association of the To Aro School, was held last Saturday at the school on The Terrace. The social took the form of a fancy-dress party, and about 150 gay people thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Many were in various fancy costumes.

Miss Rogers has been appointed assistant headmistress lor a term of two years at the Girls’ Grammar School, Suva, Fiji. She will leave Auckland on January 25 to take up her new position.
