FURTHER APOLOGY
Japan’s Note To British Embassy
(Received December 18, 12.30 a.in.) Ixmdon, December 17.
A message from Tokio states that the British Ambassador, Sir Robert Craigie, pointed out to the Foreign Minister, Mr. Hirota, that the Japanese apology did not refer to the firing on the Tuckwo and Tatung. The British Embassy later in the day received a special Note apologising for firing on those vessels.
A Hong-Kong message reports that five observation posts are being built at vital points on the Sino-British frontier owing to the possibility of military operations in South China,
