In the second column is given the return based on the last annual divi dead from investment at the quoted price. In calculating the return on shares Id companies which pay their dividends out side New Zealand the exchange rates have not been taken into consideration. The return on 4 per cent. Government loans includes redemption. Ln the case of 3i per cent, loans the return is for the interest alone and covers only the period for which the loans are tax-free:—

(Received December 15, 5.5 p.m.) London, December 14. Arrangements were completed to-day for a £570,000 Sierra Leone 3} per cent, loan issued at £lOl, redeemable in 105863. It is understood that existing -I per cent, inscribed stock holders are offered a part conversion into this stock. British Loan To Belgium (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, December 11. Arrangements for the issue this week of' a loan of £5,000,000 to Belgium at 4 per cent., repayable in 1960, have been completed by a group of British bankers. The proceeds are to be used to repay certain Dutch credits, but a substantial sum is to be retained in Britain to meet trade debts, and for other purposes.
