WEDDING
Akers—Connell
The wedding took place at St. James’s Church, Lower Hutt, recently of Annie, eldest daughter of Air. and Airs. AVilliam Connell, Khandallah, formerly of Griegs Stirling, Scotland, and Mr. J. Akers, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Akers, Lower Hutt, formerly of England. The Rev. H. E. K. Fry officiated.
The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a graceful gown of pearl satin cut on classical lines with a flared back panel terminating in a train. A silk net veil, beautifully embroidered, was held in place by a pearl halo and orange blossom, and was a gift from Mr. and Mrs. T. Mclntyre, Khandallah, friends of the bride. She carried a bouquet of white and pink sweet peas, roses and maidenhair fern. The bridemaids, Miss M. Connell and Miss R. Robinson, wore floral georgette of pink and green respectively, with halos of pink and silver. Their bouquets were of pink roses and maidenhair fern. Mr. Lyons was best man and Mr. Bocks groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held in Miss Eva Draper’s hall, where a hundred guests were entertained. Mrs. Connell received her guests wearing a frock of navy blue floral crepe de chine and a smart spring hat, and carrying a posy of summer-tinted flowers. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, who wore a smart navy crepe ensemble, with hat and shoes to tone. Her posy was of red roses. When Mr. and Mrs. J. Akers left, the latter was wearing a navy and white ensemble, with hat and handbag to match. Their future homo will be at Lower Hutt.
Mrs. Freda Cunningham has returned to "Wanganui from Wellington.
