Oriental Rugby Club
Sir, —It may 'interest many of your readers to know that in 1888 the Oriental Rugby Football Club was formed in Wellington by a band of zealous men. Probably very few of these men ate alive to-day, but it occurs to my committee that possibly there may be some one of your readers who was connected with the “Magpies” in that year or in the years since. Commencing on Easter Saturday, 1938, the club is holding its jubilee celebrations, and we invite any old players in any part ojj New Zealand to join with us during the Easter holidays in renewing old ties and bonds of friendship. We Should also welcome letters from old players and friends, and would be glad to receive items of interest, including photographs, regarding the Oriental activities in years gone past; also, it would assist the committee if old players would notify their names and present addresses, and the year or years in which they played for the club. We would appreciate your kindness in publishing this letter in your paper at an early date.—l am, etc., W. A. JAMESON, For the Committee, Oriental Football Club, Wellington. Wellington, October 19.
