HAWERA GALLOPS

Dominion Special Service. Hawera, August 5. With the approach of the combined Hunt meeting at New Plymouth, interest is again being displayed in work on the Hawefa tracks. Conditions were ideal for training operations this morning. The outside of the course proper was open down the back, but the going was heavy. Trilitho (Hawkes) shaded Narrator (Cole) in a two-furlong sprint in 26 j. Both three-year-olds have done a good deal of road work during the winter, and are carrying plenty of condition. Trilitho is an Australian-bred filly by Trivaive from Calitho, and she is shaping very satisfactorily in her track efforts. Narrator has done little racing, but should not be long in the maiden class. Swift and Sure (Grylls) led Fal'ner (Hawkes), Student ITluee (Cole) and Muster Limond (Fryer) oVer the first two furlongs of half a mile, bat Fafuer and .Student I'-rlnce then drew away from their companions, and finished well clear iu 54 4-5. Fal'ner went pleasingly, and Student Prince was also responsible for a good effort. He has not done a great deal of galloping since being recommissioned, although he should not take long to round into racing shape. Swift and Sure Went well for a hunter While bis condition lasted. Master Limond had the outside running, and covered a good deal of extra ground. Besides. he is a very lazy worker for a boy to ride.

B. la Pouple's pair, Gold dare (Hawkes) and Le Marqtiis (Grylls) were ou terms at the end of three furlongs in 42. The former is a full-brother to Corowa, and shows more promise than he did at the same age.

Lickeirt (Monkley) find Ruling Stat (Cole) cantered once round, and the second time sprinted three furlongs down the back in 43. Liekcm was going comfortably alongside . his companion throughout, and the Luekhain colt promises to be in great order for spring facing. Ruling Star is making favourable ■progress, but it will be some tittle before this well-bred gelding IS ready to race. Advance Plane (Fryer) came home strongly over two furlongs on the sand in 26 4-5. The Warplane gelding has Wintered very well, and should not take long to win his way out of hack company in the new season. River Feale (Fryer), picked up by Reo Ra (Cole) over the last half-mile, traversed six furlongs in 1.24). The lastnamed is a three-year-old half-brother to Taitofu and he is an attractive iiioVcfAlthough it is a big thing to expect him to folio# in the footsteps of Ins versatile relative, Reo Ra shoul dat least pay his way. The Hawera hurdle horseman, M. Grindlay, Will leave Auckland (0-morfow for Melbourne, Where he will do the hurdle riding for J. Fryer's stable in their Victorian engagements. Silvanus is getting through some soln road work preparatory to being mheen in training again.
