AMATEUR BILLIARDS

Wellington Association Formed A meeting of clubs interested in form, ing an association for the control of amateur billiards in Wellington was held at the Commercial Travellers’ Club last night. The following clubs were represented Y.M.C.A., Fire Brigade Social Club, Jewish dub, Marist Old Boys’*’ Association, Wellington Working Men’s Club, Commercial Travellers’ Club, G.P.O. Social and Literary Club, Federal Club, G.P.O. Pastimes Club, and RS A Brooklyn. A body was formed which will be affiliated with the New Zealand Billiard Association, and in future all Wellington bili.ard and snooker championships will be subject to the rules and conditions of the controlling body. A variation from past practice in M ellingtou championships will be made in future. Entries had formerly been from recognised club members only, but nominees will not in future have to bear this qualification. All bona fide amateurs will be eligible. August 16 was set down for the Wellington provincial amateur billiard championship. The New Zealand amateur billiard championship will also be held in Wellington, beginning August oil. Entries for the Wellington championship will close on August 9, and for the New Zealand championship on August 23.
