WAR RELIEF

Association Activities The monthly report of the Wellington War Belief Association’s applications and emergency committees was placed before a meeting of the executive yesterday by Mr. C. M. Luke, vicechairman. The emergency committee met on 19 occasions since the executive meeting of July, and during that period dealt with .134 claims, all of which were confirmed by the applications committee. There are 35 eases still under action, and the total number of claims received therefore amount to 189. During the month several applications were received for assistance to meet living expenses from dependants of a number of ex-service men undergoing treatment in hospital or attending as out-patients, and still unfit for employment. Assistance was granted in 26 such cases, which were being kept under supervision with respect to further requirements. The committee continued to receive applications for clothing and footwear, and such purchases for 30 cases involved an expenditure of £144/14/-. The sum of £lO5/10/8 was expended In sustenance, the total number of those being assisted being 114.
