British Interpreter at Addis Ababa (British Ofllcial Wireless.) (Received July 29, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, July 28. The decision of the Italian Government. to free Tafara Work, an Abyssinian who was formerly employed as fin interpreter at the British Legation and Consulate-General at Addis Ababa, was announced in the House of Commons by tlie Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, who explained that Work’s functions had never entitled him to enjoy a privileged position, and that the British Government, though It had made representations at Rome, had no locus standi on his behalf.

The Foreign Secretary added: “His Majesty’s Government appreciate the goodwill of the Italian Government and the personal Interest which I understand the heads of the Italian Government have shown in this matter.”
