LULL IN FIGHTING
Wounded Tended on Battlefields HEAVY DEATH-ROLL IN SPAIN (Received July 30, 1.5 u.in.i . Madrid, July 29. There is a complete cessation of fighting on the western front. Strotch-er-<betrrers from both sides, ar-eompanied by doctors and nurses, are moving unmolested over (lie battlefields identifying hundreds of dead and collecting wounded, many of whom died before medical attention arrived. The bodies are being piled up and burnt. The main fighting in Spain is now on the Cordoba front, where General Franco is attacking. At Valencia the Foreign Minister, Senor Giral, told foreign journalists that the Valencia Government, supported the withdrawal of foreign volunteers, but. thart the present British plan was inadequate as it only provided for the withdrawal of combatants who were the subjects of Governments adhering to the Non-intervention Pact. The Sultan of Morocco had not signed the pact, but Moors ought to be considered non-Spanish combatants. He vigorously protested against, granting the insurgents belligerent rights, declaring that, such a step was entirely unacceptable to the Spanish Government.
