More than COO visitors from overseas and from all parts of New Zealand have been guests at various receptions held by the Wellington Travel Club during the year, states the club's first annual report, to be presented at Thursday night’s meeting. Since its inauguration a year ago the club has made remarkable progress, and the membership now stands at 700. with a waiting list of 150. ■‘Arrangements are being made,” says the report, “to publish a unique booklet on the 'scenic and tourist attractions of Wellington, and preliminary work in the way of. illustrations and appropriate letterpress have already been commenced. It is hoped to publish the booklet within the next few months, and to give a free circulation in the Dominion and overseas.
“The second year of the club opens under most favourable circumstances. The initial organisation has been perfected, and the club is now well and favourably known throughout New Zealand and overseas. Members can be assured that every effort will be put forward to keep the receptions interesting to members, as well as entertaining for guests, while the general educational value of such receptions will be well kept in mind. There will also be an endeavour made to present at the club’s receptions visitors from overseas who will give in their talks that vision and' bird’s-eye view of British and foreign lands which the executive consider the members of the club should he privileged to hear.”
