Eighty Deaths in Force This Year London, July 23. A Royal Air Force fighting plane crashed in flames at Barnsley, the pilot being burnt to death. Eighty members, of the Air Force have been killed since January 1. SEAPLANE’S FATE Fishermen Saw It Fall Melbourne, July 24. . Two fishermen reported that they saw the missing Air Force seaplane crash into the sea three miles from Point Cooke at noon on Thursday. An Air Force seaplane containing two pilot officers, Ernest Yde, aged 20, and Charles Houston, aged 23, which was seen skimming above tlie sea near Rye shortly before noon on Thursday, was later reported missing. Search planes found a large patch of oil on the sea eight miles from Point Cooke. Air Force officers were of opinion that the oil marked the place. where the plane plunged into the water. SWEDISH CRASH Explosion in Mid-air Stockholm, July 23. After an explosion in mid-air, a military aeroplane crashed in pieces in Lake Vettern. The pilot was drowned and the observer rescued. The machine was engaged in ma-chine-gun exercises, and it is believed that the propeller was shot away, causing the motor to race and explode. SIX DEATHS IN CRASH London, July 23. The Air Ministry states that six persons were killed when the Air Force bomber crashed in flames near the summit of Kinder Scout Mountain, in Derbyshire. A message published on Saturday gave the number of deaths as five. The victims have not yet been identified.
