VATICAN CONCORDAT ADOPTED

Scene in Yugoslavian Parliament RENEWED DISORDERS FEARED By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. (Received July 25, 8.40 p.m.) Belgrade, July 23. The Skuptsehina adopted the Vatican Concordat by 166 votes to 128. The minority included 12 members of the Ministry. The Bill now goes to the Senate, but the Government may not command a majority there. The Ministry and the Opposition mobilised every man in order to swell the vote, and many sick deputies were conveyed to the House in chairs, including M. Yanitch, who, after being bludgeoned by the police, rose from a sick bed to participate in the debate as sponsor for the Bill. Police with fixed ..bayonets prevented a demonstration in’ the streets. Pandemonium greeted the announcement on the vote in the House. Tlie Prime Minister, Dr. M. Stoyadinovitch, announced that he was presenting the Bill to the Senate. He said he would seek an understanding with the Orthodox Church. The decision may appease the present feeling, as it is taken to indicate that the Government desires to avoid a religious struggle, but it is feared that the Patriarch’s death, which occurred early this morning, may lead to renewed disorders, against which the authorities are taking additional precautions.
