COMMUNITY DRAMA
Following the New Education conference comes a short season of community drama. All the lecturers favoured acting for adults, for rural education, and for the children. The British Drama League will hold its annual festival from July 28-31, in the Wellington Town Hall Concert Chamber. By holding these festivals. students of drama benefit both by the community spirit and the constructive criticism of the adjudicator. Professor James Shelley will be judge this year. There will be plays from Paranaraumu, Johnsonville, Lower Hutt, and many of Wellington's smaller societies. Marsden School and Wellington College will each put in Jwo teams, the Catholic Repertory, Pioneer Club, AU Saints’, St. John’s, Pandora, Elizabeth McCoombs Group of Labour Women, and Belfrance's are all competing. The league aims at improving the standard of acting by holding these festivals, which take place all over New Zealand.
