Exposing “Real Reasons” For (Received July 16, 11.35 p.m.) New York, July 16. In an interview with the “New York Times,” the Rev. Anderson Jardine, who performed the religious ceremony at the wedding of the Duke of Windsor, alleged that the Church of England had inspired hostile United States forces to persuade American charities to abandon sponsorship of his lectures. He threatened to “blow off the lid and expose the real- reasons” for the Duke’s abdication in his first speech at Baltimore on July 22. He added that the political, alliance of Earl Baldwin and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Cosmo Lang, forced the abdication, affd would lead to the disestablishment and disendowment of the church.
