ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

Association Meeting A meeting of the general committee of the St. John Ambulance Association was held in Wellington on Thursday afternoon, Sir James Elliott presiding. Sir James welcomed Mr. E. H. Barrett, chief highways inspector of the Transport Department, and Dr. C. Gordon of the Wellington Blood Transfusion Service, and corps surgeon of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, as members of the committee. Sir James stressed the importance of working in close co-operation with the Transport Department. Mr. Barrett, in reply, stated that he was glad to be connected with an organisation that was assisting his department in the training of highways inspectors. Sir James Elliott was unanimously re-elected ehairman of the centre for the eeventh year in succession. The following members were also elected as an executive: —Sir James Elliott, Dr. C. Morice, Mr. Frank Kennedy, Dr. C. Gordon Kemp. Mr. H. A. Huggins, and Mr. J. Annand-Smith. In his report the secretary said that by the middle of August all Wellington city traffic inspectors would have completed a course of first aid instruction. Arrangements had been made to instruct all highway inspectors in first aid, and the association had been asked to provide kits for their use.
