London Markets Quiet CHEESE PRICES STEADY Owing to the quiet demand the price of New Zealand butter in London was lower last week, reports the Primary Products Marketing Department. Actually, Friday’s closing (imitation of 104/a cwt. was 4/- to 5/- below that of the previous week, but it was 15/- to 16/- a cwt. higher than that ruling a year ago. The retail price of New Zealand butter on London was unchanged at 1/1 a lb., as was that of Danish at 1/2 a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand butter last week were 2286 tons, and the quantity in store was 6031 tons, as, against 4.1 <6 tons a year ago. Australian butter in store was 5578 tons, as against 3412 tons a year ago. . , Friday's closing quotations tor butter were as follows, those of the previous week being shown in parentheses:— New Zealand, salted. 104/- (108/- to 109/- a year ago. 88/- to 89/-) : unsalted, 106/- (110/-; a year ago. 88/- to 89/-). Australian, salted. 102/- . (107/- to 108/-); unsalted. 105/- (109/-). South Africa. 98/- to 101/- (103/- to Danish, 88/- f.0.b., 108/- to 110/- spot (93/- to 94/-; 115/-). Dutch, unsalted. 99/-. ex. 104/- (106/to 108/-). , Siberian, suited, 101/- to*lo->-. Lithuanian, unsalted, 105/-. Prices of cheese, with those of the nrevious week in parentheses, were as fol°'ncw Zealand, white and coloured, 70/(70/-: a year ago, 55/- to 56/6). Australian, white and coloured, 67/- to 68/-. ex. 69/- (67/- to 69/-). Canadian, white and coloured. (6/- to 78/- (76/- to 78/-). English finest farmers, b 9- to 96/(S 9- to 96/-). South African, white and coloured, 68/(69/-). The quantity of New Zealand cheese in store was 97.520 crates, as against 97,867 crates a year ago. Canadian cheese in store’ totalled 60.750 boxes, as against 67.623 boxes a year ago.
