MR. BALDWIN’S PLANS
Empire Tour Discussed London, April 29. It is definite that the Prime Minister, Mr. Stanley Baldwin, will not visit the Dominions within six months of the Coronation, it is learned from an official in close touch with him. Mr. Baldwin’s plans are most indefinite, but it is certain that he will not make any Empire tour before December, and most probably not until 1938. It is emphasised that Mr. Baldwin says he needs rest. After the Coronation he will probably take a quiet holiday in some place not yet decided upon. Any visit to the Dominions would amount to a strength-taxing tour, because Mr. Baldwin would be in the capacity of an unofficial ambassador. Nothing of the sort could be attempted in the period immediately following his retirement from office. The possibility of a tour of the Dominions after a recuperative holiday, remains, however.
