SECOND OTTAWA
Conference Possible in 1938 CHANGE IN SITUATION America’s Desire for Trade Agreement VIEWS OF DOMINIONS By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copj right. (Received May 7, 8.25 p.m.) London, May 7. America’s desire for a trade agreement with the Empire, the investigations of the Prime Minister of Belgium, Dr. Paul Van Zeeland, at the. invitation of the British and French Governments, and finally the Oslo conference toward freer trade, have collectively created a situation in which it may be necessary to convene an Empire conference in 1938 similar to that at Ottawa. The political correspondent of the Australian Associated Press agency understands that the Dominion representatives feel the problem is too big for, and that it is too early for, a discussion of it at next week’s Imperial Conference, except in a preliminary way.
