KILBIRNIE KINEMA

In a year of productions on an 'immense scale “Anthony Adverse,” which will open at the Kilbirnie Kinema to-day, is dominating. The canvas is enormous and the settings comprise a multitude of interiors and exteriors meticulously well done. The characters have been well chosen. Fredric March as Anthony has a difficult role to portray, and as usual this line actor instills the screen character with vigour and colour. Edmund Gwenn as Bonnyfeatlier once again demonstrates his ability to get beneath the skin of a part. Gale Sondergaard achieves brilliance in a completely opposite way as Faith. This dependant of John Bonnyfeathers becomes in her hands a eold, appraising, mocking, elegant-mannered adventuress.
