HON. W. E. BARNARD HONOURED

Complimentary Luncheon at Te Aroha By Telegraph—Friw association Te Aroha, May 6. A complimentary luncheon was tendered to-day at the Hot Springs Hotel to the Hon. W. E. Barnard, Speaker of the House of Representatives, by the borough council, of which be is a former member. The mayor, Mr. R. Coulter, M.P., presided. Among those present were the Hon. J. Cotter, M.L.C., Messrs. A. F. Moncur, M.P., and C. 11. Burnett, M.P., and representatives of all district local bodies. The toast of the guest of honour was proposed by the-mayor. In responding, Mr. Barnard expressed his appreciation of such a large gathering of friends. What service he had done years ago on the council was for the progress of the town and district.
