STOCKS AND SHARES

Government Loans in Demand INDUSTRIALS WEAK Business was dull.on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, recording dealings covering only 590 shares, of which 220 were banks. The strong demand for Government loans, continued at steady rates which failed to attract holders, there being no selling quotations. Banks were generally firm and unchanged. Little interest was shown in blew Zealand and Australian industrials, which displayed a weak tendency, notably Broken Hill Proprietary, Electrolytic Zincs, and Mount Lyells, which reacted to the lower prices of base metals. The Wool worths issues were also easier, the Sydney shares going at £7/9/-. The mining seation was stagnant. Sales recorded on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday were as follows: —
