MAX BAER BEATEN
Former Welsh Pitboy’s Success (Received April 16, 7 p.m.) London, April 15. At the Harringay Stadium, Tommy Farr, the British Empire heavyweight boxing champion, outpointed Max Baer, former world champion, over 12 rounds. The most fashionable crowd present at a contest for many years saw the former Welsh pitboy win. Farr was confident throughout, attacking and boxing in good style. Baer afterward said: “I guess I am through with, the game. I guess my young brother Buddy must now step into my shoes.” MONTANEZ BEATS RAN (Received April 16, 10.55 p.m.) New York, April 16. Montanez knocked out Eddie Ran in the sixth round of a 10-round bout with a left hook to the chin. Ran went down for the count of four in the second round.
