A request for the return of a 16point stag’s head shot a dozen years ago in the Tararuas before the official opening of the season, and in consequence confiscated, was received by the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, which decided to accede to the request. The stag’s head, a fine one, has long adorned Hie society’s premises at Wellington Terrace. “Don’t you think we ought to charge him rent?” suggested a member.
