“CAPPICADE, 1937”

. W. J. Mountjoy. junior, will be the producer of “The Plutocrats,” one of the nlays in “Cappicade,” Victoria University College’s annual capping revue, which will be seen at the New Opera House on April 24, 26, 27 and 28. Mr. Mountjoy is well known both in student, and dramatic circles. Some years ago he was the winner of the Plunket Medal for oratory, while at: present he is known for his verse-speaking choirs. He produced "Brave New Zealand” in last year’s revue. The leading parts of Sausage and Mash in “The Plutocrats” will be taken by R. S. V. Simpson and F. D. Christensen, who so ably acted the principal roles in “Brave New Zealand.” “The Book of Bob” will be produced by Patrick Maeaskill, a young student producer, responsible for a long list of successes for the College Dramatic Society. The part of Bob, or the Simple Soul, is allocated to J. B. Aimers, who produced “Hell’s Bells,” and is also a Plunket Medal winner. A. H. Scotney, who acted the Dictator of Uinbugonia in “Hell’s Bells,” takes a somewhat similar oratorical role in “The Book of Bob.” “Daze Bay Nights” is being produced by the author, John Carrad. The male chorus of island beauties is being lead by B. Turnbull as Maui Girl. The duties of stage manager are in the bands of Cedric Wright. Misses Joy Stock and Susie Sanders have been appointed to the care of the wardrobe. The costumes are most elaborate and colourful, including a chorus of witches and demons; a chorus of female notorieties of every age; and a complete play in Biblical costume. The extravaganza is the annual climax of student activity in dramatic art. Throughout the year, plays, play-readings and revues are presented by the Dramatic Society, giving the players invaluable practical experience. The capping magazine “Capnieade,” which this year reaches a particularly high standard, will be out on Monday, and may be purchased from the "Cappicaffe’’ shop, 226 Lambton Quay. •»
