HIGHER DIVIDEND

National Bank of Australasia 'The board of directors of the National Bank of Australasia, Ltd., have decided, subject to audit, to recommend a dividend of 6 per cent, per annum on both classes of shares for the half-year ended March 31, 1937. The above message, dated April 15. was received by the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., from the chief manager of the National Bank of Australasia, Ltd., for which the former bank acts as New Zealand agent. Australasia, Ltd., paid an interim dividend of 2£ per cent, on November 25, 1936, which, with the final dividend of 3 ]ier cent., now declared, makes a total distribution of per cent, for the twelve mouths ended March 31, 1937. This compares with 5} per cent, for the preceding year, and 5 per cent, for 1933, 1934. and 1935. For the nine years to lhe close of accounts in 1930, this bank paid a steady 10 per cent. The rate dropped to S-J per cent, in 1931, 6 per cent, in 1932. and 5 per cent, in 1933.
