SHORTAGE OF ORANGES
Fruit Almost Unobtainable Stocks of oranges in Wellington are almost entirely exhausted, and the fruit will be practically unobtainable for tbe next fortnight. A supply of Californian oranges will arrive at Auckland by the Monterey on April 16, and a further consignment of .8000 cases will reach New Zealand thnr days later from Jamaica. Because of this shortage, it is considered that price may advance slightly. Inquiries made yesterday in Wellington revealed that every possible source of supply has been tapped, but oranges are unobtainable. Sunkist oranges from America have been very scarce this year because of storms and labour troubles. The position in Auckland is substantially the same as in Wellington.
