15,000 BRICKS USED

FIFTEEN thousand bricks were used to pave a section of a sound stage at the R.K.O. Radio studios for scenes in “Quality Street,” in which Katharine Hepburn and Fraachot Tone are co-starred.

The scene depicts the exterior of Quality Street as described by Sir

James M. Barrie, who wrote the original play. Street, and sidewalks are bricked in accordance with the period of the picture, 1805-1815. There are quaint twostory houses with bay windows and iron fences and old-fashioned gardens; the pastry shop with its scones and maid of honour tarts and tea biscuits, and the harness shop where saddle horses could be boarded. Brass knockers adorn the front doors and English ivy and climbing roses mask the houses.
