ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS’ SOCIETY

Annual Meeting and Social A departure from the usual procedure was made when lhe annual general ineeling of the Wellington Accountant Students’ Society was held recently, a social evening being combined with lhe bu-iness session. The meeting was held in the buffet tearooms, Mr. C. F. Worth presiding over a good attendance. After tea had been served. Mr. .1. K. Purdie played a pianoforte solo, which was followed by community singing. Mr. W. R. Hill then entertained with two vocal numbers. Proceeding with the business of the evening, the president moved the adoption of the annual report and accounts. He congratulated the society on a very successful session, but urged the members Io do all in their power to increase the membership of the society. He also outlined the alterations in the examination syllabus reeenlly decided on by the council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. The election of officers resulted ns follows:— Patron. It. Malhieson: committee, Messrs. I. T. Cook. I). 11. Porter. .1. K. Purdie. .1. B. Black. L. R. Bowen, 11. A. I.evestam : hon. secretary. Mr. R. 11. D. Hall; hop. treasurer, Mr. L. Withy; hon. auditor. Mr. T. M_. Stephens. Votes of thanks to the retiring officers and committee were carried, and the entertainment. was continued by Mr. W. J. Arcus, who mystified members with an exhibition of magic, and by Mr. W. .1. McKeon. who kept all amused with a series of short stories. The evening was greatly enjoyed by those present, several of whom asked that lurlher social gatherings should be arranged during the coming session.
