PIGEON RACING

Wellington Central Club The Wellington Central Pigeon Club flew a flock race from Waioura, 134 miles airline, last week-end. The birds were released by the stationmaster at 10.30 a.m.. in fine weather with a northerly wind. The birds encountered fog and showery weather most of th'.’ way. The winner was Mr. A. A. Homing Pigeon Society The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society flew its one-bird flock championship race for young birds from National Park recently. The pigeons were liberated by the stationmaster, and they evidently met adverse weather conditions and only four members were able to time their birds in in race time. The race resulted in a clear-cut win for F. Couper and Son's Perfect Lady, which flew the 150 miles' airline in 4 hours 5 minutes 5 seconds. The winners hold a trophy donated by Mr. McArdle.
