South Auckland Union

Tauranga, March 36.

The band contest of the South Auckland Union concluded last, night, with tlie open cornet and other instrument solos in the Town Hall. Starting ou Saturday, the bandsmen had to contend with adverse weather conditions throughout; although. fortunately, tlie weather held to enable the test selection to be heard in tlie Domain ou Saturday night, and tlie quickstep there yesterday afternoon.

Only two bands competed iu the C grade— Pukekohe and Morrinsville—and eight bauds in the B grade. The O grade aggregate was won by Morrinsrille with 273 S points, with Pukekohe second with 256}. 'l'tie B grade aggregate. carrying the Boosey Shield, was won by the Waihi Federal Band will) 366 points. Tlie grand aggregate winners were the Rotorua Municipal Band, with 517 J points.
