YOUTHFUL CHAMPION
R. E. Bell Wins Auckland Golf Title
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, March 30. The Auckland provincial golf championship was decided to-day. when 11. D. Brinsden, the title-holder, was defeated by R. E. Bell, 3 and 2. Bell is the youngest player ever to win the title, having yet to attain the age of seventeen years. His performance was unique, as it was lite first time he had participated in an open tournament of any kind apart from the schoolboys’ championship, which he has won for the past two years.
The semi-finals resulted as follows: Brinsden beat R. M. George, 2 and 1; Bell beat A. E. Browne (North Shore champion), 3 and 2.
