In a Good Friday sermon the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Cosmo Lang, spoke of the selfishness of the nations with its attendant spirits of jealousy, suspicion and fear which made one of the most insistent problems of the time.

Ultimately it could be overcome only by Christ’s way—by each loving his neighbour as himself and seeking his neighbour’s good as truly as his .own, the Archbishop said.
